a bit about me
Hi again!
Thanks for sticking around and choosing to learn more about me. I truly believe that the relationship is the most important part of therapy (and research agrees...), so I thought I'd share a little about myself.
-
I grew up in California and learned the realities of mental illness from a young age. I went to school for a very long time as I Iearned how I wanted to help others – still have buttloads of debt to prove it (...and also a shiny doctorate degree so that's pretty cool!). I first worked as a nurse before making the leap to psychology when I discovered that my favorite part of the work was the active relationships I formed with my clients. After all those years of schooling, and maybe as a bit of a coping mechanism too, I continue to value research in my work...even though neurodiversity-affirming resources remain few and far between.
-
My work with neurodivergent clients is largely informed by my own lived experience as an ADHDer. I also live in a small fat body, so I have an intimate relationship with fatphobia and body image struggles. The lens through which I view the world is further informed by the privileges I was born with: cishet, white, non-indigenous, American citizen, formally educated, solidly middle-class, and able-bodied.
I also value consulting with others who hold marginalized identities. It is important to me that the care I provide is informed not only by research, but by others' lived experience as well.

radical
authenticity
It took me a long time to become comfortable with who I am—all of who I am. And while there's always more work to be done, I can promise you I'm a better person today because of that work. I've given myself permission to be just as I am so that I can offer you permission to be just as you are. And mean it.
When we embrace who we are, ridding ourselves of the deep shame so many of us have internalized from the worlds around us, we unlock the possibility of truly showing up for our lives. From that place, anything is possible.

honesty
I don't hold back or beat around the bush. Some therapists believe they shouldn't say anything about their personal lives. I'm not one of those therapists. I've always found that sharing from my own experience helps build trust and deepen conversations. If it's relevant, you can count on me to incorporate stories from my personal journey. (Almost) nothing is off the table.

curiosity
My job isn't to "fix" you or your behavior. My job is to understand your experience as deeply as I possibly can so that I can help you in whatever ways you're looking for. No matter what you're going through, you can trust that I will be eager to join you in making sense of it. I am not loyal to any rigid frameworks—religious, psychological, political or anything else. No judgments here.
